Flat White Extension
When we visited Mr and Mrs Clarke at their home in Heath and Reach, they told us a story that we hear time and time again. “We inherited this traditional conservatory when we bought the house, but we never use it because it is boiling hot in the Summer and freezing cold in the Winter”
With a young growing family, they wanted to create a large social space for relaxing, dining and watching TV all year round. They didn’t want their existing kitchen to be open plan within the room, but also didn’t want it to be an isolated space where the cook is cut off from everything else going on.
We drew up a design using the Flat White style of Garden Room. We suggested removing the existing kitchen window and creating a breakfast bar space, where family or guests could sit, eat, chat and socialise.
As you can see from the before, during and after pictures, they have achieved an absolutely stunning addition to the ground floor of their home, that they absolutely love. With the addition of a beautiful fireplace and huge lantern roof windows, this 9 m x 6 m room manages to be both fantastically spacious and cosy at the same time.
